Uhh, if this post is too spammy, then just delete it- I won't be too upset XD

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that the Glasgow Borders store is having a launch party and I'm tempted to go dressed as Louis from Interview with the Vampire... and also because I find the Twilight series so bad I kind of love it. So, is anybody here going? And if so, what time does it start at? I want to go to the one in Edinburgh but it's not really possible since I have nowhere to stay and my flat's in Glasgow.

Thank you :]

We met, we saw, we gossiped.

After a rather disappointing letdown by ohdearyme (who was unnable to make it, if you saw the previous post) the rest of us carried on like troopers.

I intended, having reserved a table at the pub so we would not be forced to approach strangers asking if they were 'twats', to arrive first but having had to get off early at Euston to go pee, thousandandone beat me, followed by xtabula_rasax an d I shamefacedly strolled in last - red as a beetroot.

It was lot's of fun, though I didn't warn the girls about my abundant swearing until too late. :s

That two of us had SMeyer books about our person just as a coincidence shows how... nin obsessed we are. =)

Borders is a little rubbish in this country, I must say.

I just spoke to them and the first ladty was all, "Well we don't have a release date so yeah anytime from the weekend we might receive shipment." I stayed calm, didn't not shout and scream like I wanted to at the idea that I would not have the book!!eleventyone!! I asked to speak to marketing who were a tad more helpful. It DOES come out Saturday and there will be a dress up event. I don't get this, the vampires do not wear fancy clothes but w/e.

So yeah, skip my we do things Monday to We meet up on Saturday at Borders on Oxford Street. Y/Y?

London 'lighters?

Any of you from Merry Old London (or willing to travel) who wants to do something for Twilight BD release? Or even if Monday is not cool (stupid borders/publishers/whoever) to do stuff at the weekend. I don't know what 'stuff' is, but figured details can be worked out after interest is gathered.

I got another email from Borders, asking for suggestions.

Hi,

My name is Pamela and I am the Kids supervisor at Borders in Fort Kinnaird. We are in the process of finalizing our plans for our 'Breaking Dawn' day which I know you expressed some interest in.

We want the day to be the best it can be so I thought I would take a moment to ask you what you might want at a 'Breaking Dawn' party? Would you dress up? What kind of activities would you be interested in?

While I can't guarantee we could use or manage all of your suggestions and feedback would be appreciated.

thanks for your time

Pamela Torrance

I have no clue what to say, i'm a bit shy really, so i probably wouldnt dress up or anything. And i have no other suggestions.

Anyone else thinking of going? Any one got any ideas for activities?

Since Borders in Glasgow were planing something for BD, i decided to contct our Borders. It's in Fort Kinnaird retail park, Portabello side odfEdinburgh.

This is their reply...

Hi, Cat -

Thanks for your email... We will be holding some events for the release of Breaking Dawn in August and are currently working on finalising the plans for these.

We'll get more details posted on the events page of our website as soon as they're sorted!

Kind regards,
Matt

I also contacted Waterstones in Princes Street and George Street, but they have no plans for an event.

Should we maybe start a thread for events so people can easily find events in their area?

Copied from carouselcity's post in lion lamb.

While in Borders (Buchanan St) today, I asked the salesman if they're having a party for the release of Breaking Dawn and he said he was almost positive they are but he has no idea how big it will be. I'm assuming the final decision is down to how many people express an interest in going. So, I would encourage anyone from Glasgow to ask next time they're in and see if it's been confirmed yet. I hope they have an event. *crosses fingers* They're also letting people pre-order the book just now.

He also mentioned that they are trying to book Stephenie Meyer to come and do a signing at some point...Don't get your hopes up, though. Is she not doing a small tour of America in August or something? I doubt she'd come to the U.K after that. But still, at least they're trying!

I'm in Edinburgh, so if there's nothing going on here, I might pop over.

Some of you might have heard, but apparently on August 2nd there's this book being published; I think it's called Breaking Dawn.

We already know that quite a few Borders stores are holding parties on the 2nd, with the party at the London Oxford Street branch set to be the biggest- what are your plans for launch day?

All relevant details will be posted in this thread, so keep checking back for updates.

Welcome to Twilight Brits!

I know it's boring but in order to have a properly functioning, beautiful, friendly comm, we need a few rules for its members.

1. Please try to keep posts Twilight related. (We do an off-topic post once a week, somewhat like Free For All Fridays on ohnotheydidnt; this is on Sundays.)
2. That said, feel free to post crack!fic and macros, rant about the book and its characters, talk about the cast, post news, start discussions... whatever.
3. All posts should be friends locked; this helps keep the comm private.
4. Respect the other members. Some people are ~srs bsns~ about Twilight; some people are in it for ~lulz~. Celebrate differences!
5. You don't have to be British to join! Though you may feel slightly out of the timezone...
6. New members: say hello! Introduce yourselves! Don't just lurk in the shadows, come and bathe in the spotlight.
7. Want to affiliate, pimp a comm or Twilight related stuff? Message a mod to ask first, please (we'll almost certainly say yes!)
8. Any problems? Message your mods: thousandandone, imdesigner, ohdearyme

HAVE FUN, BBS!
